A/B TESTING
Let the numbers decide which version wins.
Show visitors different versions of a headline or button, and HeatMapX tells you which one led to more sign-ups or clicks. Create and launch tests from the dashboard without writing code.
- Free plan available
- No code required
- Same tag as heatmaps

THE PROBLEM
You made a change. Did it actually help?
The team canât agree
âThis headline is betterâ is a matter of taste. Meetings donât settle it.
Numbers moved, but why?
Seasons and ad spend move numbers too. Comparing before and after canât tell you whether the change worked or it was luck.
Every test means another request to your agency
Rebuilding a page for every wording change costs time and money.
FEATURES
Create, launch and decide, all in one place.
The core features are available on the free plan.
Point and click to edit
Open your site in the dashboard and click what you want to change: text, color, size, or show/hide.
Redirect tests
Send part of your traffic to a different page, such as a new landing page, and compare (Lite and above).
Choose your goal
Measure a button click, reaching a thank-you page, or how far visitors scroll.
Targeting
Choose who sees the test by device, new vs. returning, ad source, language and more (Lite and above).
Traffic and schedule
Set what share of visitors enters the test and how A and B are split. Schedule start and end times.
Preview on your live site
Check each variant on your actual site before launch. Previews arenât tracked, so your results stay clean.
Automatic results
See the chance each variant beats the original, and how many more visitors you need before deciding.
Up to 5 variants
Compare up to five versions in one test, including the original.
Create tests by chatting with AI
Ask your AI to âcreate an A/B test for this button copyâ and it drafts the test. It only starts after you confirm.
RESULTS
Know the winner as a probability.
For each variant you see visitors, conversions and conversion rate, plus the chance it beats the original. Until there are enough visitors to decide, HeatMapX shows how many more people and days you need.
- Avoid picking the wrong version by calling the test too early
- Results are also sent to Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity automatically
- Once you have a winner, stop the test and apply it to your page
| Visitors | Conversions | |
|---|---|---|
| Original | 1,204 | 37 (3.1%) |
| Variant B | 1,187 | 55 (4.6%) |
About 160 more visitors needed (â4 days at the current pace)
TARGETING
Show the test only to the people you choose.
Combine conditions such as ânew mobile visitors from adsâ to narrow who sees the test. You can also start with a small share of traffic, so even big changes are safe to try.
- Device, new vs. returning, ad source (UTM), referrer, URL parameter and language
- Combine as many conditions as you need
- Targeting is available on Lite and above
Who sees the test
AI
From heatmap to A/B test, in one conversation.
Connect AI such as Claude, and you can go from analyzing heatmaps to creating a test in a single conversation. The AI only creates a draft. You check it with the preview URL, and the test goes live only when you say âstart it.â
- Starting and stopping always require your confirmation
- AI canât delete tests
- Disconnect at any time from the dashboard

FAQ
- Can I test mobile and desktop separately?
- Yes. Target the test by device to run it only on mobile or only on desktop (Lite and above). You can also run separate tests for mobile and desktop at the same time.
- How many visitors do I need?
- You can start judging results at about 100 visitors per variant. If the difference between versions is small, youâll need more. The results screen shows how many more visitors are needed.
- Will it hurt my SEO?
- Tests only change what each visitor sees. The page URL and its content stay the same. When the test ends, apply the winning version to your page.
- Can I switch from another A/B testing tool?
- Yes. Add the HeatMapX tag and you can create tests right away. Heatmaps work with the same tag, so you can consolidate your tools.
