## What is HeatMapX?

HeatMapX is a heatmap and conversion-rate-optimization (CRO) platform for developers and growth-engineering teams. Unlike GUI-first heatmap viewers such as Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, or PostHog, HeatMapX is CLI-first and code-based:

- You invoke captures and analyses from a terminal: `claude heatmapx analyze /pricing`
- Hypotheses and experiments live in a TypeScript file (`heatmap.config.ts`) checked into git
- Claude (the LLM) inspects captured sessions, proposes improvements, and opens a Pull Request with an HTML patch
- The team reviews and merges, just like any other code change

This makes site improvements traceable, reviewable, and reversible — the same way deployments are.

## Why it exists (problems it addresses)

1. **Heatmap insights stay in one person's head.** Whoever opens the dashboard knows what the data says; everyone else doesn't. Improvement history is detached from the codebase.
2. **No "what to try next."** Existing heatmap tools show click distributions but leave the synthesis — what experiment to run — to humans.
3. **GUI segments don't survive PR review.** Filters and segments configured in a dashboard never make it into team artefacts.

HeatMapX answers these by treating heatmap analysis as another input to the development cycle: code in, AI synthesis, PR out.

## How it works

1. Define a hypothesis in `heatmap.config.ts`:

## Privacy

No personally identifiable information is collected. Only click coordinates, scroll positions, and an anonymous session ID are stored. The tracker payload is intentionally minimal.

Those are GUI-first heatmap viewers. HeatMapX manages hypotheses in git via CLI and code, and Claude proposes the actual improvement.
